Overview of the Workshop

This 45-minute workshop is designed to help research organisations participate in the design of the next European Union Framework programme. At this time, the official name of the programme has not been announced so in this workshop it is referred as 'Framework 10'.

Target Audience: People from Universities and Research Centres who are responsible for monitoring or influencing the design of Framework 10.

                            The course is NOT open to Private Consultants

Programme Designers and Presenters

Sylvia McCarthy

Sylvia is an EU Policy Analyst. Based in Brussels since 2008, Sylvia has worked in the European Parliament and various EU consultancies and representations.

Sylvia specialises in preparing 'Proposal Intelligence Reports' for researchers participating in Pillar II of Horizon Europe. These reports identify the EU policies and expert groups behind the Topics in Pillar II.
Sylvia has a Bachelor’s degree in European Studies (University College Cork,Ireland) and a Master’s degree in International Politics and Europe (University of Warwick, UK).

 

Dr. Seán McCarthy

Seán has been active in the Framework programmes since 1980. Since 1995 he has specialised in developing the skills of researchers to understand and participate in European Research Programmes. His courses are designed to help individual researchers and Research Organisations develop 'European Research Plans'.

In 2021 the European Commission published a list of the top 100 universities and research organisations participating in the European Union Framework programmes. Dr. McCarthy has delivered training courses in 78 of these top 100 universities and research centres.
